Gwybodaeth bellach

W J Walford had a talent for recitation in Welsh and he won a prize for recitation at the 1915 National Eisteddfod, which was held in Bangor. Had the war not intervened William would probably have gone on to be a significant figure in Welsh culture. Walford was poisoned by gas during a chemical warfare attack on the Front Line and was discharged from the British Army for medical reasons. However, Walford died in hospital in Tooting, London and his body was buried at Glanadda Cemetery.
